this woman rocked my four year-old world.
i used to practice her head shake in the mirror.
she is the reason i sing too loudly when i sing in groups.
watch her in this clip. observe the head shake.
it's righteous.
as a tribute, i might finally cut bangs into my uncooperative hair.
here's to you, mary. you rocked.

I randomly had this song stuck in my head the other day! I love Peter Paul and Mary.
ReplyDeleteVery cool... I love how you can be so into music even when you're that wee... Apparently I liked singing Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" when I was little!!
ReplyDeletei'm sorry she passed away. i love the song and the bangs.
ReplyDeleteP, P & M are irresistible.
ReplyDeleteSo completely cool :) My four year old loves their songs, especially Puff.
ReplyDeleteMary did rock, lovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteShe will be missed. I alwasy loved that we shared a name and that I had a beloved friend growing up named Peter (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for this lovely post.
:(
ReplyDeleteI love them too and ESPECIALLY love the Peter, Paul and Mommy album. Sing me your song, ooooooh...... Yay. Thanks for putting a nice song in my head today.
ReplyDeleteThat head shake is righteous! man, you were one hip four year old!
ReplyDeleteDaddy and I had a PPM dinner party last night. Not a dry eye when she sang "500 Miles" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbg2wkVDWTs
ReplyDeleteThe head shake is righteous, for sure, but it is her fist up that is iconic--for earnestness and passion, it breaks your heart every time. You singing You are My Sunshine "with" her into the window fan in our dining room--that's my memory.
