a song to sing.

September 17, 2009
28979201.JPGthis woman rocked my four year-old world.
i used to practice her head shake in the mirror.
she is the reason i sing too loudly when i sing in groups.
watch her in this clip. observe the head shake.
it’s righteous.
as a tribute, i might finally cut bangs into my uncooperative hair.
here’s to you, mary. you rocked.

Very cool… I love how you can be so into music even when you're that wee… Apparently I liked singing Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" when I was little!!

Daddy and I had a PPM dinner party last night. Not a dry eye when she sang "500 Miles" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbg2wkVDWTs
The head shake is righteous, for sure, but it is her fist up that is iconic–for earnestness and passion, it breaks your heart every time. You singing You are My Sunshine "with" her into the window fan in our dining room–that's my memory.
