a song to sing.

9.16.2009

this woman rocked my four year-old world.

i used to practice her head shake in the mirror.

she is the reason i sing too loudly when i sing in groups.

watch her in this clip. observe the head shake.

it's righteous.

as a tribute, i might finally cut bangs into my uncooperative hair.

here's to you, mary. you rocked.

  2. Very cool... I love how you can be so into music even when you're that wee... Apparently I liked singing Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" when I was little!!

  9. Daddy and I had a PPM dinner party last night. Not a dry eye when she sang "500 Miles" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbg2wkVDWTs
The head shake is righteous, for sure, but it is her fist up that is iconic--for earnestness and passion, it breaks your heart every time. You singing You are My Sunshine "with" her into the window fan in our dining room--that's my memory.
