my week in objects (mostly).

five little things that made my week.

2. this new place to stash the internet stuff.

{and passing by the wine store at exactly the right time on wednesday night.}

{’cause sometimes you need a little extra christmas tree magic.}

4. these little boots.

{and silas, the latest in a very long line of cousins to wear them. three cheers for hand-me-downs.}

5. this paper.

{and gathering enough to wrap presents—some of them, already!}

other things:

miniatures are extremely my shit.”

plants make people happy (on the UWS).

this isn’t about sex. it’s about work

experience gifts.

    I heard that story on NPR in the car and thought of you!

    Wow, that article on harassment was a great read – thank you for sharing.

    That article about social media and art really bothered me. I saw Kusama’s exhibit this summer and it was so much more than what was captured on Instagram, and I think many people realized that once the experienced it. It makes me sad that people may be discouraged to check out an art exhibit just because it was hyped on IG.

    Great score on the crate. I own 2 nice vintage crates and wanted to find some more after seeing yours. I tried every. single. liquor store about wine crates and none of them had any.
    I love that candle, but would have to think about the price:)

      Oh! Gotta keep asking! Candles are often costly, but this one is actually much larger than average, so a better bang for your buck than typical, just in case you hadn’t noticed the size!

    Where are the boots from?

    I’m currently making a bounty for my first nephew & stuff my imaginary future son can inherit have priority. I love those!

      Not sure of the brand off the top of my head, but they’re ~17 years old and french, so not sure you can still find them! Will try to remember to check!

        Ah. I’ll try to find something similar. 17 years! I’ll definitely be splurging on the French brands. Thank you!

    I was wondering what kind of paper you use to wrap gifts. I bought a roll of craft paper but it’s much too thick!

      I’ve just been collecting paper that’s used in shipping, etc. Various forms of brown paper, but yes, much of it thinner than craft! (Though masking tape should be strong enough to hold that if you use it!)

    Erin, I’m truly inspired by your ideas on the beauty of simplicity. Reading your blog is one of my favorite pastimes everyday! I’m a huge fan of P. F. Candle Co as well! I’d also like to recommend Cellar Door Candles, which are hand poured in California. A beeswax and coconut wax blend with cotton wicks and fragranced with pure essential oils. They are lovely!

    Cables, charger, drives – all that kind of stuff really bothers me. But our house is filled with them! I bought a box too to store them up and put them under the bed.

    Oh my gosh, the internet cords/hubs are the bane of my existence! I was wondering if it was okay to jam them all in a basket because I know they need air circulation so they don’t overheat… Can you show a bigger photo of your solution? That crate is such a great idea.

      I keep the box open, so everything has plenty of breathing room, but it’s totally choose your own adventure on what you’re most comfortable with.
