Just read the interview with the girls from The Ripped Bodice and while romance may not be my favourite genre, it brought so much joy and now I wish I could browse those shelves. Thanks for sharing.

Which hat is the one on the left? It looks like it perhaps rolls up for packing — does it in fact?

That mental load article, yes. My husband is awesome, awesome dad, husband, partner, human being….But. But he absolutely views me as the manager, and often asks “do you need help? “Just let me know how I can help?” Not understanding that the delegation of tasks is SO MUCH MENTAL WORK. we are making progress though. I’ve explained this concept and he gets it. On my work days, he makes dinner, cleans, dishes. ….And most importantly decides the menu. Because we all know that is the most taxing part.
Friends, it’s only taken us 22 years of marriage. There is hope.

Hooray for The Ripped Bodice!! I discovered their kickstarter and visited a few times once they opened when I still lived in LA. The girls are SO wonderful and they’re building an incredible feminist sex-positive community. The decor is also just fantastic and they do fun feminist comedy nights and writer workshops and movie nights. Honestly, it’s one of the things I miss most about LA.

I feel like I’m missing something — it seems that the thesis of the blog is about being minimal and conscious, but each post is about consuming goods / buying items / getting readers to buy more items. I’m not writing this to be negative, truly, as I have recently found your blog through your book and fervently enjoy both — I’m just wondering if I’m missing a point somewhere! Is it more about setting up a home based in minimalism for those who haven’t yet, or are readers supposed to replace/throw away their existing items to purchase those advertised here? Is it more a conscious consumerism thing than a lifestyle thing?

So glad to hear that you enjoyed my book! You’re not wrong about the thesis! And yes! The objective is also in part to help encourage conscious consumption and sometimes that means talking about products! Though it never means “getting readers to buy things!” There’s a post called Growing a Minimalist blog in the archive that speaks more to your questions. Have a great weekend.

I’m not having the smell of lavender. My house is filled with the perfume of the forest mint. Scored a backpack. Now the bouquet in a vase, and the rest is dried throughout the apartment. The whole house smelled of mint.
    Summer smells so nice!

Love the hanging lavender. And how lovely the light is! that’s one of my favorite thing to watch in the morning, when the sun just creeping up and the light penetrates through the window. It feels magic. Hope you have a lovely Sunday
