my week in objects (mostly).

June 16, 2017

five little things that made my week:

1. this camouflaged bit of equipment.

{because we finally bought an air conditioner. and admittedly it’s not *all* bad.}

2. this bubble wand.

{a little more smooshed since last year, but just as much fun.}

3. these tiny strawbs.

{ready to go into the blender.}

4. this mint tea.

{for being on its way to getting sun steeped.}

5. this photo.

{for eliciting an otherwise unprompted retelling of a story from a year ago we were sure had been forgotten.}

other things:

cooking up trouble.

a baby sample sale.

smells like maine.

toasted oak kombucha.

trees are moving west.

happiness, defined.

new in town.

melon.

    We were looking at that same air conditioner. My girlfriend has the 10,000 BTU one and it cools her whole second floor. Since our house is much smaller – we figured it might do the whole thing!

    And, I love making my own kombucha. Playing with seasonal flavors is fun. Right now, I’ve got peach in my fridge. It was lemon-ginger in the spring and cranberry-ginger in the winter!

    Erin – could you share the type of box you use to store files? I finally need to upgrade from my single 3-ring binder (second baby will do that to you) and am trying to avoid an ugly plastic box.

      we have a slim cardboard hanging file box! no idea the brand or where we bought it ~10 years ago! imagine there’s something similar at the container store, or similar!

    The bubble wand is SO clever and cute! I wasn’t following your lovely blog last year, so this is the first time I’m seeing it.

    The reviews for that air conditioner are so mixed! If you don’t mind sharing, how is it working out?

      we’ve only had it on for a few days (and we’re not trying to cool our apartment to be truly chilly, just cooler than the 96 degrees it was before!), but so far it’s been great! it’s still an air conditioner: large, relatively noisy, requiring closed windows and sealed up doors, etc. but it’s a great relief on the hottest days!

    Thanks for linking to the Brook There boyshorts. I wear mostly dresses and I think this would be a modest addition to sport underneath certain dresses. My daughter is no longer a toddler; she’s seven, so I’m not really chasing her around any more, but this seems like a good solution for a possible gusty day!
