my week in objects (mostly).

December 2, 2016
five little things that made my week. 1. these cinnamon sticks.  cinnamon |reading my tea leaves {for being 18 inches long.} 2. this cluster of stars.stars |reading my tea leaves {more on these next week, but for now this toddler installation kind of breaks my heart.} 3. these ready-to-roast veggies.veggies |reading my tea leaves {because eat your colors, etc.} 4. these extra branches.branches |reading my tea leaves {turned window box fillers.} 5. this chocolate. chocolate | reading my tea leaves {because i ate it for lunch. everything in moderation, friends.} other things: connecting the past to the present. a golden top. intern. we’re veering toward a strictly soup diet around here. unmerry news for the north pole. i always want to flirt with brandy this time of year. bloody mary popcorn. sunburst? moonburst? ps. as always, there’s a newsletter en route later this pm.

Where did you find those cinnamon sticks!? Every year one of my holiday “decorations” is a just giant bowl of cinnamon sticks and pinecones – it smells heavenly. We’re moving this weekend (oh boy) so we’re going to be late to the holiday decorations game this year, but I may bust out my christmas gear before I even finish unpacking things like shoes or kitchen utensils…

Found at my local middle eastern spice market! (Oriental Pastry on Atlantic Ave. if you’re local!)

Yummy romanesco! I can’t seem to find it any more in the midwest. Happy Holiday, Erin & Family.

Hi! Just read your newsletter. Always great stuff! I’m digging that chocolate at the end. Might have to get one myself lol.
Plus, love the fir all around the house. Did the same over here. I just love the way it looks and smells 🙂

    Have a lovely weekend!

Appreciate the variety in these Friday editions! From recycled metal & conflict-free diamonds to the current (sad!) state of our arctic regions to boughs of greenery with cinnamon. Little reminders that life is happening everywhere and that it’s important to notice, from our little corner outward.

Ha, I was just recently thinking of writing to see if you’d discovered the magic of making ornaments from applesauce and cinnamon. It looks like you already did! 🙂 We love those so much at our house.

Absolutely love these Friday posts (and all other RMTL posts in general – a true inspiration for a 20-something Londoner) , such a great way to show appreciation towards the little thing in life – feeling very motivated to do something similar in the so-called-new-year to lift up my gratitude game.
PS: Where did you find those little letter/number printing blocks, that I’ve seen on several photographs?
