a little bit of brooklyn?

April 18, 2016

sublet_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_8239We’re taking off for little spell. Maybe you’re just landing?

We’re leaving in late May to spend the month of June in the tiny Breton home of my godparents in France. While we’re on our adventure, we’re hoping to rent our apartment to someone who needs a little dose of Brooklyn.

Any plans to stay in New York? Needing a place to stay for a month while you’re in between apartments? Looking for a spot for new grandparents to hang out while you welcome a new baby?

We’d love to have someone enjoy our home while we’re away in June.sublet_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_8231

You already know what the apartment looks like (here’s a refresher), but rest assured we’ll make it the little landing pad in the city you’ve always dreamed of (and we’ve got a brand-new bed to entice you). We’re subletting our place fully furnished with utilities and wi-fi included. Our place is in Brooklyn Heights and a super short walk to just about every major subway line this city has to offer. And yes, you’re remembering it correctly: June is my absolute favorite month of the year in Brooklyn.

If you’re interested in renting our place, send me a note at [email protected] with the subject line June Brooklyn Sublet.

No way! That’s an amazing idea. Makes me want to cancel all my plans in June (new apartment, new city, my best friend’s wedding) and come spend the month in Brooklyn.

I would love love love to sublet your apartment, and to visit New York. But we live far away in Barcelona and our first baby is due at the beginning of August, so no traveling overseas for us this summer. Thankfully Barcelona is pretty rad in June too, especially if you live by the beach 🙂

Have fun in France and enjoy your stay at La Bretagne, such a beautiful place!

P.S. Please visit Saint Malo while you’re there! It’s one of my favorite places on earth! (More info: https://wanderlustywriter.com/2015/04/22/wanderlusty-wednesday-saint-malo/)

A month in Brittany? How exciting! My parents have a holiday home there, so we go every year (we live in the uk, this is not so far for us as for you). I can recommend many places; Vannes market (Saturday morning), definitely a boat trip on the Moribihan, gallettes a plenty, Auray, and moules frites avec un bol de cidre overlooking the sea. And if you have a month, maybe do a couple of days trip to the Loire to taste some wine and see some chateaux?

I’m an American girl who lives in Bretagne! I’ve lived here since 2012. It’s lovely and quaint. We’ve had a very chilly spring, though. I hope the weather situation improves before you arrive. I’m in Vitre, near Rennes, so if you need any advice on places to visit, you are welcome to email me. I adore your book, btw. Like your blog, it is a truly inspirational read. Enjoy your vacation here!

Now I’m curious – where in Brittany?!! As the owner of a cottage on the northern coast there, I have looots of recommendations and not just food (…moules-frites, crêpes, araignée, galettes, cidre, kir breton, far, kouign amann…) 😉
In fact, I’m just back from a few days there and the weather was absolutely (and unusually for April!) beautiful, blue skies, bright sunshine, fluffy clouds, empty beaches stretching out, white horses on the water – and wind, lots of wind…

If you have time, visit Perros Guirec and the ile de Bréhat (with a boat from Erquy)!
