my week in objects (mostly).

January 29, 2016

five little things that made my week.

1. this beaniehat_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_4442{a little present to myself in celebration of my book being born. treat yourself, etc.}

2.  this cream.cream_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_4448{and the tiny finger gouges. faye’s extremely into giving her little cheeks a nightly massage. so nice not to have think twice about the ingredients in this one.}

3. this pile of snail mail.
mail_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_4453
{because of the senders (and stamps) and for the reminder to send some of my own. eek.}

4. this book.
brave_irene_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_4444
{because i’d forgotten all about it, until my friend elena reminded me. one of my very favorites and no doubt another subliminal inspiration for faye’s sled. thanks to grammy for bringing it to “faye-day.”}

5. these flowers.ranunculus_reading_my_tea_leaves_IMG_4458{because they were a little delayed in the snowstorm, but arrived at the right moment to offer sweet encouragement from a far-flung sister.}

other things:

the joy of a never-ending search for hobbies.

the perfect project (or storage!) bag.

knife grabber.

vending machine pottery via ginny.

a tolerable guide to the 2016 presidential election.

spite houses.

short answers about zika virus, in case you’ve also been wondering.

loving these hills and valleys since seeing them here.

a refreshing perspective: “your birth is more important than your bugaboo.”

me in other places:

a q & a with sycamore street press.

seven daily habits with remodelista.

a book review from down under.

a book review from way out west (and a giveaway, too).

    I love this series 🙂 It took me roughly 12 seconds to purchase the lotion above! My fiancé and I are always struggling with dry winter skin issues (eczema and breakouts to name a few) and this lotion sounds like it is going to do just the trick! Also, the never-ending search for hobbies was such a beautiful video. And finally, still reading and still loving every minute of your book!

    I haven’t sent any letters in awhile, but this has been a good prompt. Maybe this weekend. Thanks 🙂

    Thanks for the sweet mention of my tea towels, Erin! Loving your book so far, can’t wait to use this as a reference as I tackle some Spring cleaning in our tiny apartment… PS: Loved Brave Irene as a kid, William Steig books were always a favorite in my house. Sylvester and the Magic Pebble is another great one.

    Our family’s beloved golden lab, who left us last summer after 16 3/4 happy years(!), was named Irene after this favorite book! So happy to see it here!

    The Amazing Bone by William Steig was my son’s favorite book for a disturbingly long time…

    Hi Erin. Congratulation on the book launch.. I cant wait to get my hands on a copy….
    I just love reading you blog and the way you shine light on the magic of simplicity.
    Now I don’t know if you are open to a request like this but (in case you are…) i would love it if you could do a post about children’s books. I have an eight months old girl and i’m just starting to learn the field.
    It would be much appreciated..
    Thanks so much for all that you do.
    Noam X

    LOVED the spite houses article. I will discuss and research that for a while now. Hated the birth story one, though.

    Can you post pictures of you wearing that lovely beanie? It’s not available anymore and I’d love to try to knit one like it.
