a neighborhood walk with cole haan.

a walk around brooklyn with cole haan | reading my tea leaves Faye and I recently had the chance to test-drive new shoes from the Cole Haan fall collection, including their brand new line for kids and babies. I chose complementary styles for me and for Faye and we took them for a spin around our Brooklyn neighborhood. No surprise, I looked for shoes in a classic design and with promise of sartorial versatility for both of us. Faye’s in a pair of adorable Baby Grand Oxfords (stolen from the boy’s department). And I’m in the very lovely Jagger Wingtip Oxfords (because I love a good oxford, too).

a walk around brooklyn with cole haan | reading my tea leavesIn the interview I chat a little bit about my book and a little bit about my love for our neighborhood. Mostly I also do my best to master the fine arts of putting a squirmy baby into a pair of shoes and walking in a straight line on cobblestone with a baby on my back. The jury’s still out on the mastery. Glimpses of Faye’s ridiculously cute waddle and impish grin obviously steal the show.

This post is part of a sponsored campaign from Cole Haan. Opinions are my own. Thanks so much for supporting the brands who support this blog and help it to thrive.

So cute! How do you deal with blisters when forgoing socks? I always end up with blisters when breaking in new shoes (and sometimes afterwards) so any tips are appreciated.

I like to wear preemptive band-aids! They let you break in the shoes without getting hot spots (or actual blisters!).

You both look so pretty! I love Faye's little shoes! I always steal from the boys section when shopping for my little girl too. Seems like the boys get more of the simple classic looks whereas the girls have ALOT of bows, sparkles and glitter. Good choice of shoe on you also, seems like they will be a very practical addition to your wardrobe! The video is beyond adorable!

I appreciate all your posts, from bedtime stories (I love picture books!), popcorn, and spice organization to shoe or paint product endorsements. One of the great benefits of living with less is the ability to take greater care in the curation of useful, quality items. I can attest to comfort and quality of Cole Haans because I love my (thrifted) pair. And I appreciate seeing another mom putting her daughter in boy shoes. They are usually so much more classic! Great post. Great video. Love the shoes.
