starting seeds.

helioptrope seed packet seed starts Even though today is the dreariest day on record–well if it it isn’t, it must be awfully close–there’s a tiny spot of spring in this apartment that I’ve been doing my very best to nurture. I started heliotrope, salvia, and lobelia seeds a few weeks ago and despite my dim apartment’s best efforts to thwart their progress, a few tiny seedlings have sprouted. I sincerely hope you’ll join me in rooting for their survival. Pun only mildly intended.

I adore the cherry pie scent of heliotrope and try and buy one each spring, as I've never had much luck propagating! Then I keep it on the table in a pot so I can get a sniff regularly 🙂

Must be the time of year! I started seeds a few weeks ago (including lobelia) and they're starting to sprout. I invested in a grow light, but your windowsill set-up is much prettier. Keeping my fingers crossed for your plants!

I am desperate to start planting things and this looks like a great idea. My one question is what happens with drainage? Do you have holes in the tray or is it just a non-issue and I'm worrying about nothing?
