sunday dinners.

September 10, 2012

bikes door apps drinks piano window tofu frika i love a good ritual and sunday dinners at cait and curt’s is about as good as it gets. most weeks, on sunday, james and i cross the river for dinner at my sister, cait’s. we usually tote a bag of goodies from the market and cait and my brother-in-law, curt, are already busy preparing our meal when we arrive.

the particulars are different: the food, the conversation, the soundtrack playing in the background, but the sense is the same. there is dinner served in cast iron pans and cheesy snacks to tide us over before that.

i don’t know how long we’ll all be in this city, but i do know this is hands down my favorite part about living here.

I got extreme envy while reading this, in a good fuzzy kind of way though. I need to create a tradition like this.

We have Saturday dinners with my husband's sister, her husband and our wee nephew. The tradition of a family dinner is a wonderful thing!

    Cheesy snacks are very important!

It's so awesome that you guys take advantage of living so near to each other. Two questions. What delectable bevvie fills those martini glasses? And what yummy dish is in that cast iron skillet?

What is in those delicious-looking cocktails? I never fancied myself a mixed-drink kind of gal, but I'm recently appreciating the creativity behind it all.

I love how homey these pictures are. My ideal!

(You'd get slapped in my mom's house if you put a glass on the piano, though. There are RULES about veneer surfaces.)
