about me.

Hi, my name is Erin Boyle. I'm the writer and picture-taker here at Reading My Tea Leaves. I began this blog in late January of 2009 as an experiment in picture-taking and place-making. At the time, I was living in the little city of Wilmington, North Carolina working as an archivist and soaking in the warm southern sun as I photographed my downtown. A graduate program in Public Humanities at Brown University took me to Providence, Rhode Island and today, Brooklyn, New York is the place I'm calling home. For nearly three years, I wrote this blog from my perch in the tiny 240-square-foot studio apartment I shared with my antique bottle collection and my husband, James. In February of 2014, we moved into a one-bedroom apartment down the street in anticipation of the birth of our first child. And now, we are three.

When I'm not working on blog posts or tiny apartment projects, I contribute freelance posts and photographs elsewhere! I'm currently working on my first book, Simple Matters, coming to bookstores near you in January 2016.

Other places to read work by me:
