thankful squash | reading my tea leavesDelicata squash with rosemary and thyme. Waiting for olive oil, a roasting pan, and a hot oven.

In case a bit of quiet-seeking finds you on the internet today, a word of gratitude for finding yourself in this space.

And a toast in the untraditional sense:

Geese appear high over us,
pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,
as in love or sleep, holds
them to their way, clear
in the ancient faith: what we need
is here. And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye,
clear. What we need is here.

– Wendell Berry

Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you for sharing this poem. As someone not American and who doesn’t celebrates Thanksgiving it was the first time I understood/felt what is really about. Thank you for sharing what it means to you. Happy Thanksgiving!

Your blog so often serves to remind me of what there is to be thankful for. So even though we, here in Canada, had our Thanksgiving last month, I’m happy to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.
