my week in objects (mostly).

April 18, 2014

five little things that made my week.

1. this bud.
magnolia {and the others that finally came.}

2. this tiny sock.
tiny sock {for making its way into our laundry bag.}

3. this stuff.
coconut water {because i don’t usually go in for it, but it’s helping to keep me hydrated.}

4. this starter.
sour dough starter {because james and i took a sourdough class this week. we thought we needed two new babies, not just one.}

5. this clip lamp.
lamp {for helping brighten the place up when we still haven’t replaced the lights we took down.}

other things:
this is haunting.
something to lighten the mood.
something to lounge in post bĆ©bĆ©.
these too. especially this.

to do this weekend.

things by me in other places:
an airy studio (with a dream tub).
benevolent thievery.
green eggs.

    That sourdough starter–is it really from 1890, or does that tag mean something else? I'm not really sure how sourdough works, but I see so many cute starter pots that I am tempted to try it.

    If I may- If you're planning on nursing (and I'm assuming you are), a dress like that will actually be sort of terrible- you'll either need to wear shorts or pants underneath, or you'll have to sit around for hours (yes, hours) a day with your dress hiked all the way up staring at your newborn and your post pregnancy legs/stomach/underwear/etc. What you really want (unsolicited advice never stops when you have a kid) is a loose shirt dress style or something like this :https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/DRESSES/coverpps/PRDOVR~A3788/A3788.jsp?color_name=midnight-sky if you're comfortable with slipping off a strap or wearing it with a nursing tank underneath. Just thought I'd pass along this info- not wearing anything with a high neck (especially dresses) for months is a total bummer, but it's especially bad in the middle of summer. You'll get through it and it's SO worth it.

      Ha! Good point! Just had this thought about a different dress the other day, but all reason slipped away when I spotted this beaut!

      Just came to say the same thing! Dresses were one of the things I miss most while nursing (along with normal bras). But, man, it felt good the first day I wore one after I weaned.

    I was going to mention the same thing about the dress – I also didn't think of it until after baby was born, but dresses (without buttons on top) can be very awkward, especially when out.

    Yummm, sourdough starter is the best! We used to have some and we made pancakes most mornings. It was lovely but a bit of work. Just wanted to send a hello and say this post reminded me of my last few months of pregnancy with getting everything ready for the babe to arrive. Such a wild and amazing time. And yes comfy clothes is a must once the little one shows up. I loved wearing leggings and a cami top with a built in bra. It was super easy to nurse in and great for the summer heat. Have a great weekend Erin!

    p.s one last thing, while in the talk of nursing gear. Thought i'd mention that I bought some nursing tanks from bellamaterna.com and loved them. Just thought i'd pass it on in case you are looking for some.

    Interested in how your sourdough turns out. I got a starter and made some bread following the instructions explicitly and it tasted just like regular bread. So my starter's been in the freezer ever since :/
