beach days.

July 8, 2013

beach towels IMG_4887 I love the rhythm to days at the beach. The getting up early because the sun streams in from all directions. The morning walks. The slipping in and out of bathing suits. The way towels move from sand to the line and back again.

The days and the sunshine go on forever around here.

I don’t know much about my astrological sign, but I can vouch that there seems to be something true about cancers being watery souls. For me, it’s not swimming in the water that attracts me so much as being near it. Toes in. And then there’s the sound of the waves hitting the shore. The glint of the sun on the water. The smell of the salt air and the way it forces you to breathe differently. Like a tonic I never manage to bottle.

I love the beach too, the smells, the waves… Even the seagulls! šŸ™‚

I was just reflecting on that idea of Cancer signs and water, too. My grandmother recently passed away and I was recalling a time she told me that, since we're both Cancers. There is definitely some irresistible draw.

I couldn't agree more — and am not at all ashamed to say that I didn't even shower after an evening swim in the ocean last night. I know it shouldn't be a habit, but lingering salt water after a long weekend felt so good.

I just took a four day vacation with my girl friends to the beach, and next week I'm heading back with family. I absolutely love the beach.

I grew up by the beach. Absolutely nothing better than the tired of spending the day in the sun and water, late night fires and even later showers at home and crawling into bed.

I have been looking for similar beach towels. Do you remember where you found yours?

Absolutely poetic. There is nothing that can quite replace the sensation of sun, salt air, and crashing waves. I second the towel comment– would love to know where to find those!

Fellow cancer here, and yes, I feel the same way. I'm never as happy as I am when I'm near (not necessarily in) the water!

Of course it's in your sign of Cancer – a homebody who adores water… I've been with one for nearly 30 years!! ;))
Can't keep him away; it used to be that he had to go in it, now he's just as happy if he's on it (a keen sailor!) … LOL

THIS. I'm a Cancer myself and everyone I know finds it strange how much I love the ocean because I don't know how to swim. But I love the sounds, the smells and yes dipping (or digging) my toes (in sand) and feeling the water caress my feet. Sigh. šŸ™‚

I feel the same way about the beach, which is why I'm so thankful for being just 10 minutes away from any body of water. (thank you florida for that) Perfectly worded.

oooh i want those beach days to last forever. I just wish i could have a home that opened right on to the beach, then i wouldn't have to carry so much stuff! Hope you had a lovely holiday weekend.

Beaches are so wonderful, it is my dream to someday live on the Washington State coast, I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Florida, so the ocean is always pulling me back…

I'm not a believer in astrological signs, but I can tell you that my mother is a Cancer, too, and she also has a need to be near water as much as possible.

Ah, I felt like I was almost at the beach (or at least by a body of water) when reading this. Days at the beach make the summer season really hit home. The same with impromptu barbeques, long walks, cold drinks, and food fresh out of the garden.

I'm happiest close to the ocean, but in a place where there are green hills at my back … I'm a Libran so I guess that kinda' fits, a seeking after balance.

That second image … I can practically hear the waves breaking on the shore!
