green tree boutique: a luxurious giveaway

January 22, 2013

green tree boutique giveaway bath brush It’s January and along with my desire to slough off my dry winter skin, I have a more general yearning for a fresh start. In my particular quest for newness, I’ve turned more than a few times this month to a luxurious bath. As I wrote, recently, I’ve come to believe that though there might be bad bathtubs, there’s no such thing as a bad bath. (You can read more deep thoughts on bathing over here). Still, I won’t deny that having a few special bathtime accessories seriously improves the luxury factor.

Oooh a nice warm bath sounds so good right now after walking to work in the freezing cold!

My January ritual revolves around organizing anything and everything in my apartment. I love a good purge of things that I no longer need or use! Thanks for the opportunity!

Their shop looks fantastic! January is one of my favorite months of the year. I love filling in all the important dates on my calendar and taking a few trips to make donations to Goodwill. Gardening is already on my mind as my daffodils bloomed this week thanks to some random 60 degree days here in North Carolina.

Green Tree Boutique is really lovely. And the thought of a bath is so nice right now! Especially with this very cold weather lately.

My husband and I take the time every night to cook dinner together. We might have a glass of wine and talk about our day, or about nothing in particular, but it tends to make the evening more special.

Oh this sounds lovely! I read your post about the ritual of baths and it inspired me to take a few myself this wintry season. One of my favourite ways to combat the dreary cold is simply to have lit candles all round our little apartment. My husband loves candles as much as I do so we can enjoy such treats together. Green Tree Boutique's soy candles look just charming! Thanks for the giveaway!

This is beautiful. I (secretly) love January. My favorite tradition is long, lazy breakfasts before class with fresh squeezed citrus juice. I buy as many oranges, lemons and grapefruit as I can afford. Thanks for the giveaway and your beautiful blog! We just moved into a 380 square foot apartment, and I'm been really inspired by you!

How wonderful! I find that both my hair and my skin get so dry in and around this time of year. A solid coconut oil hair mask and a moisturizing face mask on a Sunday evening always seems to help! It's imperative to pamper yourself once in a while, if you ask me!

Mmm! This makes me want to have a bath!

As for January rituals, getting rid of all unnecessary things is a state much wished for, but seldom fully realized! What I like is starting the year slowly – the turn of the year is an opportunity to read a book (a Chrismas present, usually) without being interrupted too much…

Tear, sniff, sniff. This is probably the one thing I miss most about home. I had the best, biggest and most lovely bath tub and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, our one-year temporary home is lacking…gasp…a…bathtub. Just a teeny tiny shower that feels like it's getting smaller by the day. When we return home, I think it will be a race, between my boyfriend and I, from the baggage carousel to the bath tub. I hope I win πŸ™‚ http://hellobougeotte.blogspot.fr/2012/10/things-i-miss.html

A brilliant giveaway for a jump start to refreshing oneself for Springtime!
I like to tend to my skin the most after the more severe winter months and start re-thinking my moisturizers, soaps and shaving creams to try to figure out what really does work best for me instead of just lathering up with anything I have procured into my stash over the winter season.
Its a brilliant adventure each new Spring time. : )

Any shop that sells both Breast Balm and First Aid Salve is A-OK with me! There is nothing like the feeling of a warm bath, for sure… and while I'm in there, I can try to solve the dilemma of whether to get the striped carry-all or the batik tote (or, to reinforce the indulgent mood, perhaps both!). If you can't tell, I like to shop for myself in January… and always walk on the sunny side of the street.

I live in the south of England, so we very rarely get a)cold weather or b) snow. But this winter we've had quite a lot of both. This is the first year of living with my partner, so we've developed a new routine because we both love baths.

At least once a week, one of us will set up the bathroom for the other to take a nice long bath. Bubble bath, candles, the radio on at a low volume. The person in the tub gets to relax for a while, and then the person running the bath usually comes and sits in the bathroom for a chat. We don't take turns, and we don't do it on a set day but it's such a nice treat, and a lovely way of showing our appreciation for each other. I think I'll be buying this and making sure it gets left out for me to use the next time it's my turn! http://www.greentreeboutique.com/collections/bath-body/products/organic-clementine-clove-body-scrub

Not only in January, but most winter months, I have a penchant for baking all weekend. Big loaves of crusty bread, sea salt soft pretzels, extravagant cakes, and cookies…so many cookies that my husband consumes as quickly as I bake them.

Winter, and January because it is the first of real winter this year, is also the best time for warm baths with different bath salts, lots of candles and fluffy towels and robes to wrap up in.

I love taking a warm bath at the end of a good baking day. Then I come out of a clean smelling bath to a warm, baked kitchen.

As a Californian/New Orleans girl now living through New England winters, I've learned that sometimes there just really isn't anything as necessary as a long hot bath to get the January chill out of your bones!

Every January, I find I nest. I replace (and donate!) old, worn out things with new ones (as stores are trying to get rid of all their winter stock to make room for spring, I revel in winter items — and their sales!): flannel sheets, thick coats, woolen sweaters, household decorative items. I pretty up the joint, as I will be spending a lot of time inside. I order up stacks of public library books, tea and hot chocolate.

Instead of going out and sitting on sidewalks and patios, I invite friends over and we cook: quiches, tarts, stews, roasts. And then we cuddle up together to watch movies (everyone contributes one!).

Januaries are a time to contract, to make our lives a little smaller, to reset and renew our homes as sanctuary for ourselves and our friends; to dismiss and discard clutters both figurative and literal and to make room in our physical, emotional, and mental spaces for tiny seeds that, with sun and spring, might bloom into new life, new laughter, new miracles.

(I write this with a mug of hot apple cider next to me, a fat orange tomcat purring on the bed, and esconced in a turquoise boiled wool wrap from my mommy. Januaries are about quiet joys and small pleasures. Like a perfect bath).

  • Reply Anonymous January 22, 2013 at 5:40 pm

My januaries consist of simply trying to survive the cold! That's gotten substantially easier since migrating south, so now I just try to get outside to enjoy the sun whenever its shining!

I always look forward to the hearty vegetable soups and thick cornbreads I make this month. Actually, this one has been my favorite, I can't stop making it: http://pinterest.com/pin/164874036330165596/

Every January I go look at the bare trees. If it's been warm (like it has been) they sometimes get tricked into putting out their little buds early, and if not they are stripped down, the purest form of themselves. January feels bleak, sometimes, but there are little joys in noticing. Oh, yes, and of course I try to take as many candlelit baths as possible and try not to drop whatever huge hardback book I insist on reading in there with me.

What a great giveaway! My January ritual is probably just to stay as active indoors as possible so that I stay WARM! That or I just hide under blankets, my dog, and/or my man the whole time ha!

Love the products! My January ritual involves cleaning out the old and re-prioritizing my life. It's so easy (especially with the holidays) to get bogged down in the extra fluff that doens't really contribute to my life, and it's nice to pare down to the essentials, and see how long I can keep it that way.

very pretty site. i'd have to say my favorite thing to do is slather my feet in coconut oil (lips too), put on some thick socks and go about my business for the day. i can't bear to sleep in socks so I prefer to moisturize during the day! also, putting my face over some steam on the stovetop also helps peel away the impurities – and keeps me warm.

My January ritual is to go through my apartment to get rid of things I don't need. A few years ago I realized I had accumulated a lot of knick knacks, so this ritual allows me to see just how much junk I have. It's definitely helped me to be a more conscious shopper. This year I only got rid of two things (which were both Christmas presents from distant relatives).

Smudging is a ritual thought to rid the area of bad spirits or juju or whatever you want to call it. My boyfriend got me a juicer for Christmas and I absolutely love it. By day my only ritual is job hunting and interviewing… not my favorite nor relaxing ritual but hopefully I can get into better day rituals in February! By night I love cooking up new and healthy recipes, spending time with the ones I love and having a nice cup of ginger tea or red wine, depending on what kind of day it is. πŸ˜‰

One of my favorite January rituals, more like a practice, is to set an intentional time to reflect and dream. I get to reflect on the previous year and dream about the new year in front of me.

I think the Green Tree Boutique is so lovely. I love the Loop glass bottle, manta ray ring, and shopping jute tote.

Oooh! I love baths. I need to get back into that ritual. My bf and I just started a "ritual" of cooking together when we get home from work. We often start off tired and unwilling, but now I'm excited each night for what cooking adventure awaits us! The soy candles in their shop look wonderful!

What a beautiful boutique! The soap dish is precious. Every January I write out my goals, there's something about seeing them in print that makes them feel so possible and tangible.

My January rituals would have to be long soaks in the tub and too many cups of tea.

i love everything in that store–and it just happens that i "froke" out at my dry winter skin today and spent an hour bathing, exfoliating and moisturizing.

With the temperature outside being 14 degrees a bath sounds just perfect to combat the cold. My favorite January ritual is sitting down to an early Sunday dinner of a stew that's been cooking all day long. In these months where it becomes dark earlier my family tends to follow suit.

My favourite January ritual? A shared birthday with my very best gal and twin sister, Mally. Twice the cake and twice the fun. Thanks Erin!

january: love the newness, and the cold? not so much.

my rituals are: slippers, hot tea, ACTUALLY painting my nails and doing a heck of a good job, and a weekly clay face mask while watching Dear Genevieve.

Only one January Ritual matters…cleaning out the old. Come January 2nd and through the whole month I plurge my life of all things not necessary. Old clothes that Ive kept all year, books Ive read that I dont want to keep, receipts that dont matter anymore etc. Makes me feel great to get all the extra stuff gone and start new. I also get a massage/mani-pedi afterwards! πŸ™‚

I have started a few new January rituals this year! I'm going to the gym 5 times a week (sometimes more). I'm using a new hair conditioner and deep conditioning treatment with Moroccan Oil. And I'm working on accomplishing small goals daily. Thank you for the amazing giveaway!

to combat dry, itchy winter skin, I've been grinding up whole oats and adding them to a warm bath… it leaves your skin soooo soft!

January is my month to make a positive change in my life. Last year, it was making my bed daily (turns out, mom was right on that one!) This year, it's keeping my bar cleared off…the dumping ground for anything that doesn't quite have a home.
thank you for the great giveaway. The products look amazing! [email protected]

I have decided to get rid of all the clothes I no longer wear and give them to charity. I am itching for a bit of a clean-out!

Hello…my name is Karen Anderson, I am one of your followers on Facebook (I liked your "Reading Your Tea Leaves" page) … I went to the Green Tea Boutique page and enjoyed looking at all their wonderful products. I liked their Facebook page right away…what lovely pictures and blog posts they have !! Besides loving the crisp cold air of January, I enjoy the feeling it gives me of a time of renewal and reflection. It also allows me to think over the past year and evaluate what it will take for me to become a better person in the New Year. When I read your, "Soak" post, it made me realize how much I value and need my bath time every night ! It energizes me to keep up my January renewals… so I sure would enjoy all of those wonderful bath time treats !!!! πŸ™‚

Baths are such a lovely way to wind down after a long week!my favorite Sunday morning ritual at the moment is to get up early and make coffee Ndbreakfast, then leave all the dishes for later and get back in bed to snuggle and watch movies. Supremely luxurious. ninaruckerATgmailDOTcom
