holiday decorations for a tiny apartment.

tiny apartment pinecone swags
At long last, a few shots of wintry decorations in our tiny apartment. This year, instead of a tree, I opted for wintery greenery of a more miniature kind: tiny swags, fir clippings in glass bottles, and a tiny garland or two.

I wrote a set of step-by-step instructions for these tiny pinecone swags over on Gardenista where I'm a new contributor. I'd be delighted if you popped by to say hello; there are heaps of holiday inspiration to be found over there.

And here, posts from holidays past:
a wreath.
a scrappy garland.
rosemary holiday cards.
a christmas tree hunt.
wintertime additions.
christmas in connecticut.
a twig of a tree.

  1. They look lovely! What kind of tape do you use though? I'd love to do something like that but we have a rented apartment and I'm having a huge problem finding tape that doesn't stain/mark the walls?

    1. Japanese masking tape! Lots of pretty colors to choose from and I haven't had any trouble removing it from walls!

  2. Thanks for the tips! I'd like to have a tree, but I don't have room for it unfortunately.

  3. Pretty! You are a huge inspiration! I got to start reorganizing my room and make it look more like this than a pigsty!! Cheers!

  4. that sepia cycling gal photo is my new favorite thing. your wall is such an excellent collection of textures and images - neurons fizzing!

  5. Oh, Erin. This is really adorable. I wouldn't expect anything less! xo

  6. These look darling! We definitely don't have room for a tree in our itty apartment, so this is great inspiration.

  7. Love these Erin! Especially the last photo with vintage photographs and postcards. Have always wanted to try this look and never gone for it!
    Hope you are well,
    xo Celine

  8. what a fun spin on tradition! fitting for a small space, indeed.

  9. I love this idea! So much easier to clean up than a tree, and fits so much easier into smaller spaces :)

  10. The set up in the last shot is awesome! I got a tree this year, but the pine cone swags would be perfect for other less-decorated parts of the apartment!

  11. thank you, friends! so glad you like them!

  12. I love what you've done with your wall! Great idea. I live in a tiny cabin and this will be my first year without (room for) a tree. This gives me some ideas on how to still bring in some cheer!

  13. I have such a small apartment too! Decorating it makes me feel even more cozy! I especially love those bundles :)

  14. your decorations are perfection by the way.

  15. i love these pictures. such sweet decorations.
