make-believe: entryway.

9.20.2012

When you live in a tiny apartment, there's really no such thing as an entryway. There's a door, yes, and the act of entering the apartment, certainly, but an entryway? Not really. Regardless, it's nice to nod to the idea of one. Gathered here, a few things I wouldn't mind including in the space closest to our door. Most desperately needed? A giant tote to store all our other totes. If James hangs the bright blue chico bag on the door knob one more time I might lose my mind. The crate? Best shoe storage there is. The door wedge? I have mentioned that we store half our worldly goods in a hall closet, haven't I? It'd be nice to prop the door while I dig out the vacuum.

  1. So lovely! I want to be in this entryway. I want to own that flowers and feathers print . . .

  2. a crate for shoes... genius!! our front hall is always littered with the flip flops, slip-ons, and birkenstocks that we often wear (so want to keep out) but don't worry about the upkeep of. absolutely getting a crate for our tiny front hall this week!

    1. It's a little hook for coats or scarves or bags, with a wooden plate on top! Keys or a tiny potted plant could go up there!

  4. #2 - what a fantastic idea! I just might be stealing that.

  6. Oh yes, I dream of having a place that has a hall long enough to call an entry way. I'd love to dress it up all welcome...y when guests come over! I like the idea of having a welcome sign :)

  7. well we have a crate for shoes and a shanna murray decal as well so I'm feeling rather special at the moment - as I admire your style so much. Alas we don't have a hall closet but an armoire to corral the coats and bags. But I will take that print! Lovely.
