life in a tiny apartment.

Tip#2: Hide your clutter.

or hide his clutter. or her clutter. regardless of whose clutter it is, it simply can’t be left out and about.

in a tiny apartment an errant hair elastic can feel like it’s encroaching on your living space. enter the file folders and magazines of your well-meaning but disorderly life-partner, and it’s enough to make you go batty. in our case, a simple wine crate tucked under the couch does the trick to keep the peace. no one needs to see the pile of papers tucked messily within. out of sight, out of mind. mostly.

since we moved from our townhouse (with a huge basement) to a one-bedroom with only two closets, we have taken full advantage of the space beneath our bed. it's stuffed full of winter clothes, extra bed linens, craft boxes… so handy!

Hehe, Chris has a basket with a similar purpose that lives under his desk. We also bought some of those lawyer's file boxes before our move and I went on a filing rampage a few weeks ago. It helped, but now it needs to be kept up…

i happened upon your blog and it's been a pleasure going through the first few pages. i totally love this series because i suffer from a tiny apartment. though for me, it's the unfortunate case that my bras live in a box under the couch… 😛

I am a total clutter-keeper. But after living with a minimalistic boyfriend for a couple years now, we are chipping chucks out of the pile. This is a great way to compromise! If i can fit it in a small, finite amount of space under the couch, i can keep it 🙂
